Ronnie Wood will lead Britain's first Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp. The Rolling Stones guitarist will be joined by Cream bassist Jack Bruce, Procol Harum singer Gary Brooker and Spencer Davis at the five-day camp in May.
For £9,000 wannabe rockers will be given top-of-the-range instruments and whipped into shape by the rock veterans during intensive ten-hour tuition sessions. The students - who will stay at a Mayfair Hotel - will be taken by tour bus to a recording session at London's Abbey Road Studios. They will also be filmed performing Beatles' songs at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club.
It has been reported that Roger Daltrey, who attended a similar event in the US, will visit the camp if he is able to take a break from The Who tour. This won't be a relaxing holiday for campers, they will be expected to achieve certain standards.
David Fishof, who created the camp, said: "They are not here to throw TVs out of the hotel window. They have to reach a professional musical standard. "They are going to be filmed and recorded at the concert. Roger Daltrey told one camp at rehearsals that they had to take the music up another level if they wanted him to sing."
Frustrated rockers attending the US camp said it changed their lives. Lawyer Guy Zomick, 41, who sang 'Thunder Road' with the E Street Band at the New York camp, said: "I could have gone home right after that. I had tears in my eyes when I finished."
