Jay-Z has signed a deal to re-launch Cherry Coke.
The rap mogul, real name Shawn Corey Carter, will pocket $3 million for the
promotion, which kicks off next Wednesday (07.02.07).
However, the deal has sparked resentment among some of some of Jay-Z's
record label associates.
One music industry insider said: "He is supposed to be focused on his
label - not outside deals."
The rapper's publicist confirmed the date of the re-launch but claims not to
know how much money is involved.
As well as being one of the most successful hip-hop artists of all time,
Jay-Z is CEO of Def Jam and Roc-A-Fella Records. He also owns The 40/40
Club - a chain of sports bars in the US - and is part owner of the New York
Nets NBA team.
