Notes on a Scandal' star, who has been nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar, insists it was anything but love at first sight when she and screenwriter Andrew Upton were introduced by a mutual friend in1996.
Cate has revealed that Andrew wasn't exactly smitten with her either.She told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "We didn't like each other at first. He thought I was aloof and I thought he was arrogant."However, a little humor eventually broke the ice between the pair and it wasn't long before they fell passionately in love.

Geoffrey Rush had told me and he just laughed his head off."Once he kissed me, that was it! I was - and still am - swept away."Australian-born Cate and Andrew were married in 1997 and have two children, Dashiell, five and Roman, two.The couple were recently named joint artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company. They start work at the theater in January 2008.
