Drew Barrymore is fed up of starring in romantic comedies. The 'Music and Lyrics' star wants a role in an "adult and dramatic" film because she thinks she plays too many happy characters. Drew said: "I do want to avoid being repetitive and I know I have been. I love romantic comedies. I love happy endings. But I know now that it is time to get in touch with a different side of myself - the one that is mature, adult and dramatic. I do want to be a 'woman' woman rather than a young woman."
The 31-year-old became a child star when she appeared in 'E.T.' aged seven. She went off the rails, smoking marijuana aged nine and taking cocaine aged 12 but said the experience taught her a lot. Drew said: "By 14 I was a has-been. I am so grateful now for all and any jobs I get." And so grateful that I went through that in my life. I honestly truly never take anything for granted."
