Billie Piper said that she once pushed her parents away after finding fame and fortune at just 15 and it almost cost her relationship with them.
Billie Piper says fame almost cost her relationship with her parents.
The singer-turned-actress was wrong to believe she didn't need her parents
anymore after finding fame at just 15 as a pop star.
She said: "I made them redundant as parents because I thought I didn't need
them. When I was 15, I would say, 'Mum, I've got a mortgage and a boyfriend.
I can handle it.'
"Of course I did need them, but I pushed them further and further away. That's the thing I feel most guilty about, shutting them out."
Billie, now 24, was devastated when her parents sold their story to a
newspaper, but now understands they were victims of her success too.
She said: "I would call them when I was in despair and say, 'Can you come
and get me?' And they would always be there. But then they wouldn't hear
from me for weeks."
The former 'Doctor Who' actress has since repaired her relationship with her
parents.
She said: "I've said sorry to them for all the hurt I caused them, it was
very important to me to do that."
