Mel C considered suicide after being called "Sumo Spice".
The former Spice Girl says the pressure to lose weight at the height of the
band's fame led her to become clinically depressed and she even considered
ending her life.
Mel - real name Melanie Chisholm - began to binge eat and exercise
constantly because she felt under such pressure to stay slim.
The 33-year-old told ITV documentary 'The Truth About Size Zero': "I started
to think, 'I have to be perfect to be worthy of this crown.' "
Meanwhile, Mel is reportedly refusing to agree to a Spice Girls reunion
because she wants to concentrate on her solo career.
The band's former manager, Simon Fuller, has urged Mel's old bandmates Emma
Bunton and Geri Halliwell to persuade her to reunite for a six-month world
tour.
Fuller said: "Mel C thinks her solo career is bigger than the band, which is
just not the case. She needs to wise up and realise a reunion would be
amazing for everybody concerned."
Fuller, who founded the group in 1994, insists the reunion would only be
temporary.
He said: "The Spice Girls will come back with a big bang. They will do a
whirlwind tour for six months and then be gone again."
The Spice Girls - who also comprised of Victoria Beckham and Mel B - were
one of the most successful girl groups of all time, selling 53 million
albums worldwide.
