Former Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins is competing to represent the UK in
'The Eurovision Song Contest'.
Hawkins is teaming up with Beverlei Brown to sing 'They Don't Make Them Like
They Used To' in a televised battle with six other contestants wanting to
represent their country.
Hawkins said: "I had a dream I should do it. I think I'd got to the vote
when I woke up."
Other contestants include former East17 member Brian Harvey, Big Brovaz,
Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon, and an unknown singer called Cyndi.
Morrissey has dropped out of the line-up.
Hawkins, 31, is looking forward to being back on stage and says competing in
Eurovision has always been his dream.
He said: "When you've enjoyed a long break it's good to come back with
something as big and glamorous. It's my new ambition. Eurovision is always
something I wanted to do."
Hawkins and Brown will be competing on BBC1's 'Eurovision: Making Your Mind
up' on March 17.
The winning contestant will represent the UK in the Eurovision final in
Helsinki, Finland, in May.
