Christian Bale admitted he's been in debt and dead-broke when 'Batman Begins' turned up and made him rich.
Christian Bale loves playing Batman because it made him rich.
The 'Batman Begins' star, who will reprise his role as the caped crusader in
'The Dark Knight', confesses he was struggling to pay the bills before he
landed the role.
Bale told America's GQ magazine: "I've found myself getting paid, and
getting paid well-it's unbelievable. I never thought that was going to happen.
Not long before I did Batman, I didn't work for a year-and-a-half. I was
looking for things, just nothing was coming my way."
The 33-year-old actor even had his mortgage paid for by his agents when he
was filming 'American Psycho' because he was so broke.
However, the actor wouldn't swap his unstable career for any other.
He said: "Nothing stays really constant and calm. Maybe I bring it on
myself. I'm not sure. I have to admit I'm a little bit of a turbulence
addict, because of growing up with it so much."
Bale struggles to understand people who plan out every detail of their
lives.
He explained: "What makes me more nervous than anything is knowing exactly
what's going to happen. Being with people who are all very polite and have
planned lives and do things on schedule and life is going just perfectly for
them - I can't deal with that."
