singer Roger Daltrey is recovering well after being hospitalised with an infection. The 63-year-old rocker was admitted to hospital earlier this week after being struck down by a virus, forcing the band to reschedule several dates on their US tour.

However, he could soon rejoin his bandmates after making a good recovery. Guitarist Pete Townshend said: "Roger is feeling and looking better. The doctors say he is OK. The last four shows are certainly back on."

Concerns for Daltrey's health were sparked when he walked off stage during a Florida concert with suspected bronchitis. Days later, his condition plummeted and doctors diagnosed a virus and severe dehydration. Two of the band's tour dates in Mexico were cancelled in the wake of his illness.

Townshend confessed he was worried the future of the tour was in jeopardy, saying: "A decision will be made on the rest of the shows on this leg of the tour. I am distraught about this, as I have waited so long to play in Mexico."
