Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley and Gwen Stefani have been appointed as the host of "Idol Gives Back" charity event.

Gwen Stefani are to appear on a charity version of 'American Idol'. The stars will join a host of other celebrities for 'American Idol Gives Back', a special edition of the talent show which will help impoverished African children and Hurricane Katrina victims.

Daniel Radcliffe and
Helena Bonham Carter will also appear on the programme, which will feature some stars singing and others showcasing different talents. A show insider said: "It's great that so many big stars have come forward to give their services for charity."
The show's executive producer, Ken Warwick, is looking forward to seeing the high-profile celebrities perform on the show, but would not give too many details away. He said: "One thing I can guarantee is there will be humor and a few shocks. I know it will also move people to give generously."
