Hugh Grant is confident that he will be found not guilty for harassing a photographer with a can of baked bean.
Hugh Grant insists he will be found innocent of allegedly attacking a photographer, it has been reported. The '
Music and Lyrics' star was arrested on Wednesday (25.04.07) after photographer Ian Whittaker claimed the actor kicked him before hurling a tub of beans at him on Tuesday (24.04.07). But Grant is confident he will not be found guilty. According to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, the 46-year-old reportedly told friends: "This is something being made out of nothing. I'm confident I will be vindicated at the end of this and have not done anything wrong."
The 'Love Actually' star voluntarily handed himself in at London's Notting Hill police station on Wednesday where he was arrested and questioned for half an hour. He was bailed and has agreed to return for further questioning next month. Grant, who was walking near his West London home at 10am on Tuesday, lashed out when Whittaker asked if he could take his picture.
The 43-year-old photographer alleges the actor kicked him three times and kneed him near the groin. Whittaker said: "It looked like he had been out for a morning jog. I asked him if he would give me a smile because he was standing with his head down. But he must have been having a bad day because he started chasing me down the street. He gave me a couple of kicks in the legs and I think he kneed me."
