Mike Myers is set to star in 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty'. The 'Austin Powers' star will take the eponymous role in the long-awaited remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye classic.
The film - which centres on daydreamer Mitty whose vivid imagination allows him to escape the boredom of everyday life - is being written by Jay Kogen, the writer and producer behind sitcoms 'Frasier' and 'Malcolm in the Middle'.
A series of Hollywood names, including Jim Carrey and Owen Wilson, were previously linked to the role. Steven Spielberg was rumoured to be directing the project, but a final decision is yet to be made.
The actor, who turns 44 on Friday (25.05.07), is also in discussions with New Line and director Jay Roach about a fourth outing as Austin Powers in a movie told from the perspective of the secret agent's nemesis Dr Evil. Myers is currently promoting animation 'Shrek the Third' - for which he voiced the title character for the third time.
