Through her lawyer, rapper Eve has pleaded not guilty regarding the DUI case.
Eve pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) yesterday (22.05.07). The rapper-and-actress - real name Eve Jeffers - was formally charged with DUI and driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher in relation to her arrest last month.
She faces a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine and six months in jail if found guilty. Eve did not appear in the Los Angeles court, her attorney entered the plea on her behalf. A court hearing was set for June 28.
The 28-year-old allegedly crashed her gold Maserati into Hollywood Boulevard's central reservation in the early hours of the morning on April 26. The '
XXX' star had two passengers in the vehicle at the time. Eve was visited in jail by Oscar-winning actor
Sean Penn, who was seen leaving the police station in a taxi at 4am. A police source said: "He came to see how Eve was doing."
