A German woman who claims Sir Paul McCartney sent a doppelganger to take a DNA test to prove he wasn't her father has had her case dropped. Bettina Hubers, 44, alleges McCartney - who she calls The Beatles' "cute one" - got her mother pregnant during a three-year affair in Hamburg.
German prosecutors investigating fraud charges brought against the singer for allegedly sending a look-alike to the paternity test which took place in 1983 threw the case out of court on Friday (25.05.07), claiming the incident occurred too long ago. Michael Grunwald, the spokesman for Berlin's prosecution office, said: "Any criminal act alleged by the woman filing the complaint, even if it happened, has passed the statute of limitations."
McCartney agreed to the tests after Hubers demanded money from him. In 1966, the legendary musician allegedly paid Hubers' mother £13,000 to keep quiet about their relationship.
McCartney has five children. He adopted Heather, his late wife Linda McCartney's daughter from her first marriage, and the couple had three more children together - photographer Mary, fashion designer Stella, and musician James. He also has a three-year-old daughter Beatrice with estranged second wife Heather Mills.
