Kelly Clarkson has cancelled her summer tour after failing to sell enough tickets. The singer announced yesterday (14.06.07) she had called off her August 18 Jones Beach concert and would not be continuing with her US summer tour, after failing to fill the 15,000-seat venues.
In a message to fans on her official website, Kelly wrote: "I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to getting out there to perform for y'all. In the craziness of the music business, performing is what I look forward to doing the most, so it really is disappointing for me to have to tell you that I won't be coming out to tour this summer."
"The fact is that touring is just too much too soon. But I promise you that we're going to get back out there as soon as is humanly possible to give you a show that will be even better. Thanks for all of your love and continued support."
Michael Rapino, CEO of tour promoter LiveNation, told The New York Post newspaper: "It's mind-blowing when you stop to think about what Kelly Clarkson has achieved during her young career, but ticket sales have not been what we anticipated."
The news comes a day after the former 'American Idol' winner parted ways with her manager The Firm's Jeff Kwatinetz. Although both parties insisted the split was "amicable", Kelly was said to be unhappy with the artistic direction she was advised to take.
The 25-year-old star is also said to be feuding with BMG chairman Clive Davis over her third album 'My December', which Kelly wrote entirely herself. Davis wanted her to include more "radio friendly" tracks, but the singer insisted on experimenting with her own creativity.
