Richie Sambora reveals that his recent admittance to UCLA Medical Centre was for an attempt to detox his drinking habit.
Richie Sambora feels "great" after his "detox". The
Bon Jovi guitarist - who completed a week-long programme at the Los Angeles UCLA Medical Centre last Wednesday (13.06.07) - revealed he sought help because he was "drinking too much".
However, he insisted he entered the facility for a "detox" and "did not check into rehab". He told the 'Today' show: "Instead of me heading into a place - I was just drinking too much and I needed to get my life together. I'm still in therapy and stuff like that, but it's good. I'm great. I feel fine."
Frontman
Jon Bon Jovi insisted the band fully support Richie and vowed to help him through his troubles. He said: "We've been through everything together and there was no way that we were not going to be supporting Richie right now - and that's what we're doing. He's been through the fire, and we've been there for him."
It has been a tough couple of months for Sambora. He split from actress
Denise Richards in March after dating her for almost a year. In April, the 47-year-old rocker's divorce from
Heather Locklear was finalised and his father tragically died of lung cancer on April 21. Sambora admitted: "It's been a rough year."
