Bon Jovi opened the newly rebuilt O2 Stadium in London by delivering a stunning performance.
Bon Jovi became the first band to play London's O2 Arena last night (24.06.07), rocking the new venue with a spectacular set. The US band wowed 20,000 fans at the new arena, formerly the landmark Millennium Dome.
After opening with their classic hit 'Living On a Prayer', lead singer
Jon Bon Jovi told fans: "Welcome to your new home. Judging by the crowd out here tonight, who the hell needs Wembley Stadium?"
The band then ripped through a set which included songs from their new album 'Lost Highway' along with old favourites such as 'Keep the Faith' and 'You Give Love a Bad Name'.
Bon Jovi were due to be the first band to play the new Wembley Stadium last June before its delayed construction caused their two concert dates to be cancelled. The O2 Arena will be hosting a series of big names with
Justin Timberlake,
The Rolling Stones,
Prince,
Elton John and
Scissor Sisters all due to appear over the coming months.
