Johnny Knoxville filed for divorce from yesterday (03.07.07). The 'Jackass' star - real name Philip John Clapp - cited irreconcilable differences against his wife of 12 years, Melanie Lynn Clapp, in papers filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Knoxville, 36, is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, 11-year-old Madison, whose name he has tattooed across his chest. He has offered to pay an unspecified sum of child support. The papers state the couple married on May 15, 1995 and separated a year ago on July 17, 2006.
Previously Knoxville had denied rumours of an affair with his 'The Dukes of Hazzard' co-star Jessica Simpson - who was married to Nick Lachey at the time.
The 'Jackass' star said in August 2005, the year the movie came out: "Usually you just laugh and go on. But if it's something like they've done to Jessica and I, it's not as funny because I have a wife and kid. Luckily, my wife is understanding. It's show business."
