Lionel Richie claims daughter Nicole Richie hasn't told him she is pregnant. The 'Hello' singer has urged Nicole - who is reportedly expecting a baby with Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden - to call him and confirm the good news.
Lionel told People magazine: "Grandpa, man, that's wild. I don't know if I'm going to be grandpa, I don't know if I'm ready to be called grandpa. Nicole, baby, call me!"
The 58-year-old star, who performed at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on Saturday (07.07.07), says he was "honoured" to be a part of the show. He said: "There comes a time in your career when people tell you that you've made it, and that's what I feel has happened to me. I just feel completely honoured to apply these songs to be part of helping New Orleans recover, and I'm humbled by how this city has embraced me."
The festival returned to New Orleans after a one year move to Houston while the Superdome was being repaired following Hurricane Katrina. Mary J. Blige and Kelly Rowland were also among the performers at Saturday's show.
