Rod Stewart's comes first despite his age while Justin Timberlake's "FutureSex/LoveShow" and The Police's reunion tour took the second and third post respectively.
Rod Stewart has the biggest grossing US tour so far this year. The 'Maggie May' singer has earned a staggering £24 million on the road, beating
Justin Timberlake into second place.
Justin's 'FutureSex/LoveShow' tour has grossed £21 million so far this year while newly-reformed band
The Police have earned £20 million. A source said: "Despite being 62, Rod has still got what it takes. He has a lot of fans who flock to see him rock packed venues."
Insiders believe Rod has been given a new lease of life after marrying model Penny Lancaster, who is 26 years his junior, last month. One said: "It doesn't seem to have harmed him having a younger woman on his arm. Age can't slow him down."
Although he is riding high in the touring stakes at the moment, he is expected to lose his crown to The Police, who still have a number of dates remaining on their comeback tour. Other artists included in Pollstar's mid-year Top 100 North American Tours chart are
Celine Dion,
Kenny Chesney and
Christina Aguilera.
