Harry Potter is set for success at the first ever Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards to be held in the UK after receiving four nominations. 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' - the fifth installment in the series - will battle it out against three other popular fantasy films 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End', 'Shrek the Third' and 'The Simpsons Movie' in the Best Movie category.
Daniel Radcliffe, who plays heroic wizard Harry Potter, faces stiff competition in the Best Movie Actor category from 'Pirates of the Caribbean' co-stars Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom and British comic Rowan Atkinson. Emma Watson, who plays Harry's friend Hermione Granger, is up against Cameron Diaz, Dakota Fanning and Keira Knightley for the Best Movie Actress prize. 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' - author J.K. Rowling's seventh and final tome in the series - has been nominated for Best Book.
Cameron Diaz, who has won several Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in the past, is thrilled with her Best Movie Actress nomination. She said: "What a cool honor to be nominated for the first UK Kids Choice Awards. I'm going out for scones and some yummy clotted cream to celebrate. Thanks, UK kids! Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards rock. I've had a blast every time I've gone to the show."
Fall Out Boy will battle it out against Girls Aloud, McFly and Sugababes in the Best Band category. Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Hilary Duff and Cheryl Cole from Girls Aloud are set to contest the Best Female Singer prize.
Justin Timberlake, a previous host of the awards ceremony, received two nominations. He is up for Best Male singer, while his single 'What Goes Around' was nominated in the MTV Hits Best Music Video category.
The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards UK, hosted by British boyband McFly, will take place on October 20 at London's ExCeL arena.
