My Chemical Romance are set to win big at the Kerrang! Awards 2007 after receiving four nominations. The heavyweight American rock band will do battle with British newcomers, rave-metal group, Enter Shikari, who have also received four nods.
My Chemical Romance's 'Welcome to the Black Parade' will go head-to-head in the Best Single category with Enter Shikari's 'Sorry, You're Not A Winner'. The bands are also pitted against each other for Best Album for 'The Black Parade' and 'Take To The Skies' respectively.
My Chemical Romance are also in the running for Best Video for their promo for 'Welcome to the Black Parade' and Best International Band, while Enter Shikari have been nominated for Best British Band and Best Live Band.
The nominations - announced at Oxford Street's Virgin Megastore in London yesterday (08.08.07) - also saw Canadian rockers Fall Out Boy named in three categories, Best Album, Best Video and Best International Band.
Funeral For a Friend, Lostprophets, Biffy Clyro, Muse, Machine Head, Hellogoodbye and 30 Seconds to Mars each received two nominations. Close to 400,000 votes were cast through the rock magazine and the accompanying website www.kerrang.com for the nominations shortlist. The awards ceremony will take place at The Brewery, in east London, on August 23.
