Snoop Dogg listened to Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black' album and felt he had to do an album that's entirely his.
Snoop Dogg's new album is inspired by
Amy Winehouse. The rapper is a huge fan of the troubled singer's worldwide hit record 'Back to Black' and admits her honest and heartfelt lyrics made him want to make his forthcoming LP on his own.
He said: "When I'm listening to it, I'm learning who she is. It's like when you listen to
James Brown, he did it by himself, and Curtis Mayfield, all by himself."
Snoop is turning his back on his usual superstar collaborators and is planning on baring his soul on the hotly-anticipated album. He explained: "I'm going to do the whole record by myself. I don't want no guest rappers this time round, no singers, nothing. Just Snoop Dogg! I want you to feel me."
Snoop has previously recorded with
Justin Timberlake,
Pharrell Williams,
50 Cent and
Dr. Dre. The new album is expected to be out by the end of the year. On 'Back to Black' Amy sings about her painful break-up from now husband Blake Fielder-Civil. The 23-year-old singer and her spouse have checked in and out of rehab twice this month, and have both been branded drug addicts by their parents.
