Five men crashed into director Francis Coppola's house and stole a computer that contains all of his creative work, including script for 'Tetro'.
Francis Ford Coppola's latest movie script has been stolen from his home by armed robbers. The 68-year-old director's screenplay for '
Tetro' was stored on a computer stolen from his home in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by five men on Wednesday (26.09.07), who beat and "tied up" several of his employees.
The men also stole several other computers and expensive camera equipment from the property in the fashionable Palermo neighbourhood. The Oscar-winning filmmaker was not at home at the time, and is said to have been left "very sad" by the break-in.
Coppola's spokesperson said: "They were looking for money, and they did not find it because there wasn't any. They took computers and other digital devices. The only thing we want to ask, on behalf of Mr Coppola, is that they please return at least the information that is inside his computer, which holds all his creative work of a very long time."
An Argentine police spokesman confirmed they were investigating the robbery. Coppola is offering a reward to anyone who helps him recover his property.
'Tetro', which will star
Matt Damon, depicts the ongoing rivalries of an artistic Italian immigrant family living in Buenos Aires. Coppola is living in Buenos Aires for several months while he learns Spanish and works on the film, which is planned for release in 2009.
