Pete Doherty has begged organizers not to make alcoholic drinks available at his tour venues, so that he won't be tempted.
Pete Doherty has banned alcohol from being served at venues for his forthcoming tour. The Babyshambles star - who recently left rehab after a six-week stint for drink and drug addiction - is in talks to perform a series of solo concerts, and in a bid to stay clean has asked organizers to make the shows alcohol-free.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Pete came up with the idea. He feels like a new man. It'll be a challenge for him to go on tour without drugs. Everyone expects him to fall back into it but he's confident he can keep on the straight and narrow."
The rocker - who is currently staying in a country cottage with rumored fiancee Irina Lazareanu to avoid the temptations of London - recently thanked his fans for their support during his rehab stint, assuring well-wishers he is on the road to recovery. He said: "31 days clean and counting."
Friends of Pete also revealed he is planning on permanently moving to the countryside to avoid the temptations of city life and his old circle of friends. One said: "Pete really wants to make a go of being clean. No one has seen him this healthy in a very long time - or this determined to stay that way."
