Mariah Carey claimed she never used any perfume until her own signature scent 'M'.
Mariah Carey says her own signature scent is the first perfume she has ever worn. The 'Heartbreaker' singer insists she found all other fragrances on the market "overwhelming" so she was overjoyed when Elizabeth Arden approached her to create her own bottled essence, 'M'.
Mariah said: "My perfume is the first fragrance that I wear. I'm not really a perfume person at all. Things that are too strong and overwhelming, that's what I was always not a fan of."
Mariah's new scent is a blend of Moroccan incense, a flower called the Living Tahitian Tiare and toasted marshmallows. She said: "The marshmallow smell is blended in there - it's not like you're going to walk around smelling like marshmallows."
The star also admitted she is "in love" with her as-yet-untitled new album - the follow-up to her Grammy award-winning 2005 LP 'The Emancipation of Mimi' - which is due out next year. She added in an interview with the Associated Press: "It's hard for me to sit here and talk about it without sounding like I'm bragging if I'm in love with it, but I'm in love with this album. I think that having the success with the last record allowed me to have more freedom and just make records that I like. It's kind of a really fun record."
