Fans of Michelle Rodriguez believe the actress doesn't deserve the 180 days jail time and they gather signature to free her from the charge.
Michelle Rodriguez's fans have launched an to save her from jail. The former 'Lost' actress' supporters set up the appeal on her official website in protest at the 180-day prison sentence she must start by December 24 for breaking a probation order relating to her 2003 DUI (driving under the influence) charge.
In a direct plea to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daviann L. Mitchell, who sentenced Rodriquez, the petition's creator Leigh Lewallen says: "We are begging you to have mercy on Ms. Rodriguez and reverse your decision for her to serve so much time behind bars. She is a good soul and has much to offer the world that cannot be achieved if imprisoned for such an amount of time. We are outraged and just want to show our love for Michelle."
The petition can also be found on the 29-year-old star's . It was created on October 12, and has currently gathered 658 signatures. Lewallen continues in his post: "The Michelle we know constantly strives to inspire women to be strong, self-loving, educated and confident in themselves. She shouldn't be in jail."
In May, Rodriquez served just four hours and 20 minutes of a two-month jail sentence for a separate charge of violating her probation after being arrested for DUI in Hawaii in 2004. She was released from California's Century Regional Detention Facility because of overcrowding and subsequently had her probation extended until June 2009.
