Trying to sing tribute for his late mother, Kanye West couldn't hold back his tears on his concert stage in Paris.
Kanye West's cool appearance fell apart on his concert stage in Paris. On Saturday night (17.11.07), at almost the end of his Paris concert right before singing 'Hey Mama', he tried to dedicate a song for his late mother. But, just after saying "this song is for my mother....", he could not continue what he wanted to say and broke down in tears.
Meddy Magloire, a journalist from Le Parisien reported, "He said the word, 'Mother' and just couldn't go any further. A back-up singer, the DJ and a guitar player came over to console him. It looked like he might collapse. He just couldn't continue. He just stood there in a spotlight, crying while the band continued playing."
After a few moment of silence, the crowd started to encourage the singer and his band restarted playing the song, but Kanye left the stage. 10 to 15 minutes later, he came back on stage to sing his last song 'Stronger'. Magloire added, "He was very nervous, seemed to have gathered himself up, and had a lot of energy. He kept shouting out to the audience, 'I need you... I need you right now.' and the public was screaming back. It was magic."
His performance in Paris is the 'Gold Digger' singer's first performance after the death of his mother on November 11. Following the latter situation, he canceled his Victoria's Secret performance on Thursday. On Friday, instead of attending memorial service for his mother, he arrived at the Hotel Le Meurice, Paris, a few hours after officially canceling his Amsterdam concert. On Sunday night, he was scheduled to perform in Brussels, while on Tuesday (20.11.07), he is expected to attend his mother's funeral in Oklahoma City, U.S. before continuing his European tour.
