Babyshambles were once again left by their former guitarist, Patrick Walden. The original member of the punk band quit from the 2007 U.K. tour on Thursday (22.11.07), just hours before the band kicked on their first opening night in Manchester, England. It was reported that the guitarist was originally intended to join his former band as he traveled together with the band to the MEN Arena. Unfortunately, on the last minutes, he backed out.
To NME.com, Mick Whitnall, Walden's replacer, explained the situation by saying, "He came up to Manchester on the tourbus with us, he was going to come out and play on a couple of songs, but there were complications and he had to go home. Personally, I just found it all a bit strange. It was a very amicable decision, he just didn't want to do it in the end. He's got other projects on the go and I wish him well. There's no animosity there, none at all."
Before he decided to quit the tour, Walden was expected to perform a couple of songs with his former band. He was also scheduled to play on all seven scheduled tour dates, lasting until December 1, 2007. Prior to the U.K. tour, Walden has joined his former band twice this year. The first was in July at the Love Music Hate Racism show at Hackney Empire, and the second was in August in a show at the Scolts Head pub, north London.
Despite being left by Walden, Babyshambles' tour still continues on. Following the Manchester concert, the band which is established by the troubled rocker, Pete Doherty, performed at Brighton Centre yesterday (25.11.07), and is expected to perform at Bournemouth International Centre, London Wembley Arena, Birmingham NIA, Nottingham Arena, and Glasgow SECC.
