Melanie Brown Lost From Race-Car Driver in Dancing Competition

Though many argued that Melanie Brown was the best dancer in 'Dancing With the Star' Season 5, the feisty member of 'Spice Girls' only managed to score the runner-up position. In the final show of the dance show competition on Monday (26.11.07) night, she was defeated by two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, Helio Castroneves.

Actually, if the winner was chosen mainly from the scores the judges gave, Brown and her dancing partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, have won the competition by a single point. After gaining a perfect score for their final dance, Brown and Chmerkovskiy was in the lead, scoring in total 85 of 90, while her opponent, Castroneves and Julianne Hough only scored 84. Still, because the votes from fans is accounted as from the final result and the fact that Castroneves gathered more votes, Brown eventually came out in the second place.

Despite her disappointing defeat, the singer admitted that competing in the show has been an amazing experience for her. She also added, as quoted by USA Today, "I feel like I've accomplished a huge thing in my life - juggling motherhood, Spice Girls concert rehearsals and this. My new goal now is kicking off a great Spice Girls concert tour. I want Maks at every one. He's coming to Vegas and New York and hopefully others."
