Metallica is going to launch their new single through 'Rock Band' video game. Rolling Stone reported that the MTV Senior Vice President of home entertainment, Paul DeGooyer indicated that the heavy metal rock band has a deal with the company regarding their first single.
To the Rocky Mountain News, DeGooyer, whose cable network worked with Harmonix Music Systems, a game developer company, on 'Rock Band', stated, "There are a couple of things we've committed to, one of them with Metallica for example. They've reserved the right to give us their first single from their new album for the game."
Rock Band itself is a music video game, in which players could played virtual rock band, completed with original rock songs, including Red Hot Chili Peppers' 'Dani California', Metallica's 'Enter Sandman', Deep Purple's 'Highway Star', Foo Fighters' 'Learn to Fly', and The Who's 'Won't Get Fooled Again'. Aside from the available songs, the game is also supported with downloadable tracks and albums. One of the downloadable album will be The Who's 'Who's Next' (1971), while others include Nirvana's 'Nevermind' (1991) and a yet unspecified Metallica album.
