Reese Witherspoon is hailed as the 2007 female money maker as the Hollywood Reporter released their annual list of highest-paid actress. The American sweetheart claims the title reportedly because she demands 15 million to 20 million dollars for each comedy movie she made. Despite the fact that her latest movie 'Rendition' failed to meet expectation, Reese Witherspoon proves that her reputation as the 2005 Oscar winning actress and the success of 'Legally Blonde' is enough to ask the high salary.
Although Witherspoon earns a lot for each movie, her position is shadowed by Angelina Jolie in the second place. The 'Beowulf' star, who is reported to command about the same salary as Witherspoon, is said to be paid as much as 8 million dollars for five weeks work. Following in the third place is Cameron Diaz who got more than 30 million dollars for her part in 'Shrek the Third'. Meanwhile, the highest-paid actress last year, Nicole Kidman drops to the fourth place earning only 15 to 16 million dollars.
Renee Zellweger, Sandra Bullock, and Julia Roberts follow in the fourth to sixth place earning 10 to 15 million dollars per movie. Rounding up the bottom three, Drew Barrymore and Jodie Foster allegedly collect similar check for 10 to 12 million dollars, and Halle Berry, who is in the last place, earns merely 10 million dollars.
It is also reported that though the top 10 list of high-earning Hollywood actress has been dominated by the A-list actress, the new Hollywood stars, like Katherine Heigl, Rachel McAdams and Jennifer Garner, are said to earn more for their parts. The Hollywood Reporter's "Women in Entertainment: Power 100" issue, which also contains the top ten list, will be on the newsstands on Tuesday (04.12.07).
