Though she is obviously having a rough year, Amy Winehouse proves that she is one talented singer. On Thursday (06.12.07), the 24-year-old troubled singer was announced to be one of the 50th Grammy Award nominees. Even better, she managed to be nominated for six Grammies, including Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and the reputable Record of the Year.
On the nomination of Album of the Year, Winehouse will be facing strong contenders, including Kanye West, who received the most nominations with eight nominations on his hands, and Foo Fighters who got five nominations. Meanwhile, for the Record of the Year nomination, she will be up against Beyonce, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and once again Foo Fighters.
Apart from Winehouse and West who became the top nomination scorers on the event held at the Music Box, in Hollywood, Jay-Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and T-Pain each received five nominations. At the same time, Akon, Dierks Bentley, Chris Daughtry, Feist, Tim McGraw, John Newton, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, and Bruce Springsteen earned four each.
The nominations was announced by fellow artists, such as Satcy Ferguson, Vince Gill, Dave Grohl, George Lopez, Mike Shinoda, and Taylor Swift. It was attended by both national and international press. The presentation of the Grammy Awards itself will be held on February 10, 2008 at Staples Center, Los Angeles, and will be aired from 8:00 to 11:30 PM on CBS.
