Being accused and sued under the suspicion of coying other artist's work, Kid Rock was told that his case was dismissed by a federal judge.
Kid Rock has been cleared from copyright infringement lawsuit. U.S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon on Thursday (06.12.07) dismissed the copyright case against the rocker claiming that the plaintiff could not provide enough data to prove Rock is guilty as charged.
In her pronouncement, Lemmon noted down, "The works are not so strikingly or substantially similar as to preclude independent creation." Further, the federal judge also quoted the expert testimony from both sides as well as her side-by-side review of the songs.
Following the dismissal of the lawsuit, Rock's attorney, Michael Novak stated, "(The case) was utterly meritless. Unfortunately, the way our justice system works, anybody can sue anyone for any reason, and successful artists tend to attract these groundless claims. But we are elated the system worked here. Justice is served."
The lawsuit clearance is the follow-up of the 2004 lawsuit filled by a New Orleans musician, Troy Landry against Rock, Uncle Kracker, John Travis and Kenny Olson. In the lawsuit, Landry stated that some part of Rock's hit song 'Somebody's Gotta Feel This' copied sections of his two songs that was released on 1994.
