After months living in uncertainty about the status of her adoptive Malawian toddler, Madonna can finally breathe free after David Banda's adoption has been approved by the government.
Madonna has been given the greatest Christmas gift ever as she officially adopted the two-year-old Malawian. According to In Touch Weekly, the material girl and her husband's adoption request of David Banda has been granted by the Malawian government.
In their site, In Touch reported that the 'American Life' singer was allowed to adopt the little boy after a Malawi social welfare official visited them earlier. Following the visit, the official found that Madonna and Guy Ritchie, who have been Banda's foster parent for more than one year, proved to be qualified parents.
In the report made by the officer, it can be seen that the welfare official believed that the adoption should be granted for Banda's best interest. He also noted down his remarks about the wife of Guy Ritchie saying, "Mrs. Ritchie presents a confident and able parent. There are clear indications that David is becoming a happy, secure toddler."
In reference to Madonna's response to the marvelous news, a source told In Touch, "Madonna hid it well, but there was a part of her that was worried that the adoption wouldn't go through." The source then added, "This is the best Christmas gift she's ever received." Additionally, though still expected to attend official hearing in Malawi in April 2008, it was reported that Madonna is planning to hold an extravagant party in January to celebrate the good news.
