Shia LaBeouf was freed from criminal charges for trespassing the Walgreen Co. drugstore. On Wednesday (12.12.07) in hearing held in a Chicago courtroom, the 'Transformers' star was told by the prosecutors that misdemeanor charges against him were dropped since Walgreen Co. and a security company sent a letter stating that they have no interest in continuing the case.
The 'Disturbia' leading actor appeared in the courtroom unshaven and wearing a black blazer and gray corduroy jeans. He was accompanied by Terence Gillespie and Edward Genson, two Chicago's distinguished lawyers. In a matter of minutes after he entered the room, he left the room saying nothing but smiling after being dismissed from the case. Later, to the reporters waiting, one of his attorneys, Gillespie stated, "All I can tell you is we're grateful and he's on his way back to work and so am I."
The short-live hearing was held following LaBeouf's arrest on November 4. The former child actor was arrested at about 2:30 AM that day after he refused a security guard's requests to leave a Walgreens store in Chicago. At the time of the incident, he seemed to be drunk but wasn't told to do the sobriety test by the police because he was not driving. According to the police, when he was arrested, LaBeouf, who can be seen starring alongside Harrison Ford in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' next year, was courteous and polite.
