Being engaged since July 2007, the 'Norbit' star finally tied the knot with Tracey Edmonds on Tuesday (01.01.08).
After months waiting to get married to his fiancee,
Eddie Murphy is finally a married man. On January 1, 2008, the comedian married film producer Tracey Edmonds. According to People, the couple swapped the vows on a private island off Bora Bora in French Polynesia in front of 25 friends and family.
Among the short list of guest attending were best man Johnny Gill, maid of honor Nicole Avant, and matron of honor Julie Lev. Edmonds's parents Jacqueline and George McQuarn, her brother Michael, as well as Murphy's mother Lillian Lynch and his brother Vernon were also presence.
The wedding ceremony, which was designed by event designer Colin Cowie, was held on the beach at sunset on a gazebo made out of 6,000 shells. In the nuptials, the bride, who wore Sugia Nazel and Jill Baracci's custom-designed form-fitting dress, walked barefoot down the aisle to Gladys Knight's song, "Makings of You". Meanwhile, the groom was wearing a cream suit and vest with an off-white handkerchief.
Following the ceremony, guests celebrated the nuptial with a private dinner and after-party, in which Los Angeles DJ Darrin Ebron kept the guests dancing. Additionally, the wedding cake was created by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings in Napa, California. It featured four layers in whites and cream with handmade sugar cymbidium and dendrobium orchids.
This is the second marriage for both Murphy and Edmonds who were engaged last July. Murphy was previously married to Nicole Mitchell until April 2006, while Edmonds was married to Kenneth "
Babyface" Edmonds until June 2006.
