The R&B singer and his promoter CBE Touring are accused to refuse paying the designer for "extra work" that was "required and requested."
Seems R&B stars have been hit with legal cases lately. The latest in the pack turns out to be
Chris Brown, who now is being sued by a set designer for his current U.S. tour.
The designer, named John Troxtel, has alleged the "Run It!" hit-maker and his promoter CBE Touring for a breach of contract and is seeking over $1 million in damages while also claiming unjust enrichment and unfair business practices.
In the papers filed in federal court on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24, 2007) which TMZ.com has obtained, Troxtel said though he indeed received payment for some of his earlier set designs, he was not paid for "extra work" that was "required and requested." Among them was "the creation of animation" which lights up the stage as Brown makes his entrance onto the stage.
The man further claims an oral agreement was actually made with CBE tour manager Maceo Price for payment, but the company later refused when it came to time to collect.
No statement coming from Brown's representatives yet regarding the case as calls to them were not immediately returned.
