Left with millions of dollars in debt for legal fees, Heather Mills has been forced to sell her nine-bedroom mansion in Robertsbridge, East Sussex.
The 40-year-old will reportedly move back to her former residence in Brighton, England after selling the estate in order to collect the cash deposit of $1 million she put down on the property. The sum came from the sale of a converted barn given to her by estranged husband Paul McCartney following their split in May 2006.
The sale, however, made no profit for Mills as the house was sold for the same price of $6.5 million that she paid six month ago to purchase it. The glamour model-turned-activist, previously admitted that her divorce battle with McCartney had led her to owe $3 million in legal bills.
In related news about Mills, the "Dancing with the Stars" contestant in contrast is said to receive thousands of dollars' worth of gifts from McCartney for her 40th birthday on Saturday, January 12, 2008. The lavish presents included a $4,000 Cartier watch and a $10,000 gift card from luxury British department store Harvey Nichols, accompanied by drawings made by their daughter Beatrice.
A hand-written card attached to the gifts read, "Have an amazing day, despite what's happened. Hope we can be friends. P x."
