Spice Girls' member Melanie C is bidding goodbye to all of her tattoos. The Whiston, Lancashire native, nickname Sporty Spice, has made up her mind to remove ten tattoos she has once the Spice Girls reunion tour comes to an end.
The singer reportedly is ready to pay 10,000 Pounds ($20,000) for laser surgery to get rid of the images, which are said to bring back bad memories of her battles with anorexia and depression. Though told that it may need two and a half years for the removal, she is willing to invest the time to make sure it is done properly and minimize scarring.
"Mel is determined to have her tattoos removed as soon as the tour is over because they remind her of all her unhappy times," a source told News of the World. "Having to parade around the stage every night in tiny costumes has encouraged her to make the decision."
Mel C's ink includes a Celtic cross on her left arm, the word "Angel" on her stomach, a phoenix across her shoulders, and a dragon on her right calf. She initially expressed her change of heart about the images last year, saying she thought they were a "ridiculous thing" to have had done.
