Though medical examiner stated that Donda West died from some pre-existing coronary artery disease and multiple postoperative factors after her plastic surgery, Kanye West apparently blames himself to be the one leading his mother to her death.
The rapper feels he was responsible for her passing because he had encouraged the 58-year-old to get the surgery, which involved a tummy tuck and breast reduction procedure.
"It was his money that paid for the operation and his fame that opened up this very different world to Donda," a source told the National Enquirer. "It would never have occurred to her to have plastic surgery before Kanye hit it big. He can't help thinking it shouldn't have happened."
Donda West was pronounced dead on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 8:30 P.M. PST and laid to rest ten days later (Nov. 20) in her native Oklahoma City. Following her funeral, West was found to dedicate a performance of "Hey Mama" as well as a cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" to his mother in his November 22 concert at The O2 in London.
