Bette Midler to Take Retirement After Her Las Vegas ShowReady to withdraw from the spotlight, is intending to retire from show business once she completes her upcoming two-and-a-half-year run of shows in Las Vegas.

The veteran singer/actress revealed her desire to do so to Parade magazine upon being asked whether she will have her retirement after the show, saying "I think so" in her answer.

"I must say, my high kick is just as high as it ever was, thanks to tai chi. But everything is a bit slower," she said. "The mind - things don't stick the way they used to."

The 62-year-old added, "I feel like I'm going out with a bang. It's something my husband and I have talked about. I certainly don't want to die in harness. I'm not one of those people."

Middler has been reported to replace to headline the Colosseum at Caesars Palace through her "The Showgirl Must Go On" for 30 months. Starts on February 20, 2008, the show will feature some of her favorite colorful characters as well as 20 female dancers and a 13-piece band.
