Usher's Father Died of Unspecified Causes

R&B singer Usher is losing one of his beloved family members. His father, Usher Raymond III. passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008 of unknown causes at a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

The "U Remind Me" hit-maker was by the older man's side when he exhaled his last breath, MediaTakeOut.com revealed. Joined the star at the bedside were his wife Tameka Foster and mother Jonetta Patton.

Raymond Sr. and Patton got separated not long after Usher was born. The man was noted to then struggle with a long-running addiction to crack cocaine for most of his life, but maintained a solid relationship with his son throughout his personal troubles.

UPDATE 01/22/2007: Usher's representative has confirmed report of the death of the star 's father. His funeral will take place this week in Chattanooga, Tennessee at the Taylor funeral home chapel.
