Following her departure, the Hip-hop MC is aiming to release her next album independently.
Bold decision has been made by
Lil' Kim in her recording career. The rapper has taken departure from Atlantic Records after a lengthy business relationship with the company, which was established by the late Ahmet Ertegun.
The "No Time" hit-maker, real name Kimberly Jones, now is planning to independently release her next album, the first one since her 2005-2006 jail sentence. Reports suggest she will likely join Fat Joe at Imperial Records, the independent arm of Capitol Music Group.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Kim initially was a member of Hip-hop group Junior M.A.F.I.A. before working out her solo career by launching her debut LP "Hard Core" in 1996. Her upcoming album was originally slated for a February 2008 release, but now is tentatively set for April or May 2008.
