Bold decision has been made by Lil' Kim in her recording career. The rapper has taken departure from Atlantic Records after a lengthy business relationship with the company, which was established by the late Ahmet Ertegun.
The "No Time" hit-maker, real name Kimberly Jones, now is planning to independently release her next album, the first one since her 2005-2006 jail sentence. Reports suggest she will likely join Fat Joe at Imperial Records, the independent arm of Capitol Music Group.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Kim initially was a member of Hip-hop group Junior M.A.F.I.A. before working out her solo career by launching her debut LP "Hard Core" in 1996. Her upcoming album was originally slated for a February 2008 release, but now is tentatively set for April or May 2008.
