Rapper Busta Rhymes Escaped Jail Time in Assault Charges
Freedom can still be enjoyed by as the rapper made his way to avoid jail sentence dealing with his misdemeanor assault charges.

A judge at New York's Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday, January 23, 3008 finally sentenced the 35-year-old to three years' probation and ten days of community service for assaulting his former driver and a fan in separate cases.

Rhymes, real name Trevor Smith, also got fined $1,250 plus court costs for driving while intoxicated and with a suspended license in May last year. In addition, he must enroll in a DWI program after completing his community service. Formal sentence, in the meantime, will be entered March 18 this year.

"I just want to say that I'm very grateful to the judge, and I'm very grateful to the system," Rhymes said as he went on his way to leave the court. "I believe in the system."
