Co-Star Confirmed Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem as Lovers

When presenting Javier Bardem with the Montecito Award, Woody Harrelson let out that the 'Volver' star and the 'No Country for Old Men' star are an item.

Though romance rumors between Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have been constantly denied by the pair, a slip out made by Woody Harrelson added more fuel to the speculation. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the 46-year-old actor accidentally gave out confirmation on the much speculated relationship at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Tuesday (29.01.08).

Presenting the Montecito Award to his acclaimed co-star in "No County for Old Men", Harrelson said, "I can't believe the luck Javier has. If you look at his biography - one page is just describing his journey and then the second page is all of the awards he's won." Then, he revealed, "And not to mention, I found this out last night too - he's going out with Penelope Cruz!"

Upon the mentioning of the "Volver" star, the crowd let out cheers and supporting shouts, while Bardem chuckled and put his head in his hands. Still, when giving his speech, the 38-year-old Spanish actor didn't mention anything of Cruz, instead he said, "When I saw the invitation to this from my agent, I said 'I don't get it.' When I saw the theatre it was huge - I thought it was going to be smaller. When I saw the crowd, I said 'I don't get it. Why me? Why? Why? Why me, tonight?' And then I said 'You know what? I don't want to know!' Instead I receive this as the greatest honour of my life."

Last autumn, Cruz and Bardem were caught on camera canoodling in the Maldives. They have also been spotted going out on a series of dates. However, despite the rumors, the two renowned actors stated that they are not more than just co-stars.
