Heath Ledger's body will be laid for a final rest at Karakatta cemetery in Perth beside his grandparents, The Australian reported. His family have also decided to hold a private ceremony in his hometown Perth instead of taking the offer from Ledger's old school, Guildford Grammar, to have a funeral in its east of Perth chapel.
Graeme Plumber, Guildford Grammar's director of community, respected the family's decision and still offers the location for further memorial service should the family decide to have one. Plumbers reasoned that the family probably want to preserve "the dignity of a very private funeral after all the publicity" surrounding the actor's death.
Jake Gyllenhaal, Ledger's co-star in "Brokeback Mountain" and the godfather of his 2 year-old daughter Matilda, is expected to come to the private funeral.
Meanwhile, a second memorial service was held on Saturday, February 2 at Sony Pictures movie lot in Hollywood. Celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Ben Harper, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Naomi Watts were spotted among the mourners. Michelle Williams, ex-fiance and mother of Matilda, however, reportedly did not attend the ceremony.
On January 22, 28 year-old Ledger was found dead on his bed in his Manhattan apartment with prescription pills found near his body. According to New York's Medical Examiner's Office, a toxicology report is expected to be released next week, possibly Tuesday (January 5) or the day after.
