Rihanna's Dark Past Revealed by Ex-Addict Dad

Rihanna's father wishes nothing but his daughter not to follow up his past crack-taking habit.

Rihanna's gloomy past is opened up through a revelation from her father Ronald Fenty who admitted that he smoked crack while Rihanna watched. Fenty said that a 9-year-old Rihanna peered through the kitchen door and secretly watched him taking the illegal drugs, but revealed further that he had patched things up with her.

"I turned and looked Rihanna in the eye and instantly came back down from the high I was on," Sunday Mirror quoted Fenty as saying. "I saw her run for her mother, ask her something and then they both started to cry. I had no idea she had been watching. It was the lowest point - life just stopped and I realized what a fool I had been."

As a result of his drug addiction, Fenty was thrown out of the house and had to suffer from not seeing his children. The 54-year-old man however, decided to make things right two years after that. "It was the turning point. Monica (then wife) chucked me out and we never patched things up. I knew I could carrying on taking drugs and die or stop and see my children grow up. I still thank God every day I chose to stop - I live for my children now."

He also injected wise words to Rihanna not to follow him. "You see so many young people find fame then lose their heads. I begged her not to do a Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan. She looked me in the eyes and said, 'Dad don't be stupid'. She won't go down the path I went down. She's too smart."

Rihanna and her dad have been in good terms and he hopes to watch her breaking a leg in the upcoming BRIT Awards. She is scheduled to perform with Klaxons on a rendition of "Umbrella" at the February 20 event.
