Revealing that her parents are overprotective towards her, the 'Hannah Montana' star confessed that she desperately wants to find true friends
Being a successful teenage singing sensation didn't mean that she can do what ever she wants as
Miley Cyrus revealed that her protective parents made her almost friendless. In an interview with Barbara Walters on her Oscar special to be air on February 24 at 7 PM EST on ABC, the 15-year-old "Hannah Montana" star confessed that her parents has banned her from spending time with many of her friends because they don't think them good for her.
Talking to the renowned media personality, Cyrus said, "I need more friends. Its kind of like my quest right now just to have more true friends." On the occasion, the actress/singer explained that she is lonely because her father former country singer star
Billy Ray Cyrus and her mother are very strict with her. "Some people think you have more privileges than other teenagers because of what you do. And that's not it at all. It's actually the opposite," she said. "They're protective for sure. My mom is more strict than my dad. You want to keep your closed circle of friends. And sometimes my mom is saying, 'I have a bad vibe about this person. She needs to hang out with you when I'm around just to keep you safe.'"
The actress who appeared as a cameo in Disney's "High School Musical 2" is expected to present trophies at the 80th Annual Academy Awards' ceremony held on February 24 along with
a list of other A-list presenters, including
Cameron Diaz,
Jennifer Hudson,
Nicole Kidman and
Katherine Heigl. She was recently hit with
unpleasant critics when she and her father was caught to be riding with an unbuckled seatbelts on her 3-D concert movie "
Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour".
