Has to Undergo Emergency Surgery, Naomi Campbell Hospitalized The British supermodel Naomi Campbell was rushed to a Sao Paulo's hospital to go under the surgeon knife. According to reports, the hot tempered model has undergone four hours of emergency surgery at the Sirio Libanes hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil to remove a cyst on Sunday (24.02.08).

The news was confirmed on Tuesday (26.02.08) by Campbell's publicist Jeff Raymond. In a statement, Raymond revealed, "Naomi Campbell was admitted to hospital last night [25 February] to have a small cyst removed. Following the successful procedure, she is now resting and looking forward to getting back to work. She would like to thank the doctors who have kindly looked after her." Further, the hospital treating the 37-year-old supermodel released a statement that read, "Naomi Campbell entered the Sirio-Libanes Hospital in Sao Paulo last Sunday and is under the care of a team of doctors led by David Uip and Jose Aristodeme Pinotti."

On her doctors, the Associated Press reported that Campbell has been taken care by Pinotti, who is a gynecologist, and Uip, one of Brazil's top experts in infectious diseases. Though refusing to give detailed information about the model's illness, Pinotti confessed to AP that Campbell underwent abdominal surgery. He said, "I cannot reveal what Naomi had, nor how serious her condition was, but I can say I operated on her yesterday, that everything went smoothly and that she is completely cured and walking in her room." He then added, "It was an emergency operation, but went well. There were no incidents or any problems that worried me during the surgery. The whole procedure was done using laparoscopy, without having to undergo the traditional method, which would be to open the stomach."

Campbell is known to be a frequent visitor to Brazil. The Telegraph reported that earlier this month, she was a guest at a carnival in the northeastern city of Salvador in which she partied with singers Daniel Mercury and Preta Gil, who is also the daughter of Brazil's culture minister Gilberto Gil.
